I am a freelance ecologist with 6 years of experience in ecology based in Hertfordshire. I have a GCN licence, CSCS card and I am currently working towards ACIEEM membership. Experienced in protected species surveying, ECoW and report writing.
Recently gone freelance and available to undertake ECoW supervision and protected species surveying. I have six years of ecology experience including several years of great crested newts and bat surveying experience.
Protected surveys I have experience in include GCN (aquatic funnel traps, torching, eDNA, translocation, fencing supervision, pitfall traps, HSI assessments, egg searches, netting and hibernacula construction), bats (emergence dusk/dawn and transect), reptile (artificial refuge deployment and collection, translocation and hibernacula construction), water vole (feeding signs, latrines, burrows, footprints and rafts population counts), otter (feeding signs, faeces and footprints), badger (latrines, footprints, sett identification and activity levels, pathways and feeding remains) and natterjack toad (egg searches, habitat assessment and torch surveys).
I have volunteered as a hazel dormouse surveying checking nest boxes and recording signs across Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.
I have experience of ECoW supervision for a number of highways projects including vegetation clearance, destructive searches, SMART motorways and Japanese knotweed.
