Summary

I am a former member of the armed forces that has recently graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Countryside Management from the Royal Agricultural University. I have a multitude of transferable skills gained through my experience in industry and I am now seeking a position in ecology or the natural environment where my recent qualification can be used to its full extent.

I have graduated from the Royal Agricultural University with a first class honours degree in Wildlife and Countryside Management. I have been working with a highly regarded ecological consultancy for the survey season and I have gained an enormous amount of industry related experience.

Since joining the company I have conducted Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRA), in excess of 20 bat emergence/re-entry surveys and analysed over 100 hours of bat calls using Bat Explorer software. 

Additionally to all of the bat work I have conducted, I have also gained valuable experience to compliment the knowledge I had on Phase 1 habitat surveys.

I am a confident communicator, computer literate and proficient with QGIS mapping software.

I possess many years of experience of dealing with clients, managing people and projects and leading teams through my time in the armed forces and public sectors roles.

Experience

Assistant ecologist supporting the ecological team with all aspects of bat surveying including Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRA), emergence and re-entry surveys and data collection and analysis using bat explorer software.


Providing knowledge and experience on other ecological surveys including: Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA’s) and reptile surveys and the writing of subsequent client reports.


18 months as a Volunteer Warden for Gloucestershire Wildlife trust at their SSSI site Lower Woods. Here I assisted the Warden with the management of the  700 Ha site, this included Felling, coppicing, createing woodland products for local sale. I assisted in the making of charcoal, and helped build the new oak nursery.

During my time I assisted with the running and coordination of the volunteer group.
