However, I have previously worked in the hospitality, education and sport sector where I have demonstrated skills and qualities such as communication skills. I have worked within a team environment during my time in the hospitality sector and also solo during my time as a physical education apprentice; having led classroom sessions with senior members of staff. I currently work as a full-time volunteer ranger with the National Trust. Tasks vary every day, from fencing, wildlife surveying and clearing Hemlock from rivers, to assisting in events around West Cornwall and engaging with the public. My internship is for a period of 12 months approx. with training funding available to assist in earning qualifications in areas such as brush cutter and chainsaw. (Mon-Thurs 9am-4pm).
PERVIOUS POSITIONS
I have volunteered at Northumberland Country Zoo as a keeper assistant. I supported qualified zoo keepers in areas such as prepping and weighing out food, mucking out enclosures, leading horses and donkeys out into fields and putting their head collars on. I also helped weigh animals such as raccoons and lemurs.
I previously worked part time at Riverside Newcastle as bar support, I maintained stocks in the fridge, changed kegs, collected empty glasses, maintained a clean premise including the cellar. I also ensured there was plenty of clean glassware stocked on bars and re-stock ice.
Previously worked at Frankie and Benny's where my role was to provide a friendly and efficient service within the bar area, completely orders accurately, measuring spirits, stock rotation and exceeding customers expectations. I also gained experience and skill as a barista throughout my time at Frankie and Benny's. I also developed my cash handling skills.
Due to my performance during my apprenticeship it allowed me to build a rapport with a sport coaching organisation. They gave me the opportunity to work as a sport coach during the summer holidays. I coached and supervised ages 4-12 in various sports and assisted the head coach during tournament-based exercises involving the whole course. PEAK Sport is an organisation dedicated to delivering physical education in Primary schools throughout Tyne and Wear. I also developed my classroom and time management skills which I hope to develop even further.
