Experienced fieldwork supervisor, with skills in GIS, survey, report writing, research, liaising with stakeholders, H&S and volunteer supervision. Looking for a new challenge combining my passion for nature and my experience in fieldwork.
At work and during my part-time master’s course in Landscape Archaeology I am highly organised. I am always motivated to hone my skills and gain new experiences and knowledge for personal development. I see projects through to completion, working self-reliantly and as part of a team.
Contact to people from different walks of life, working across the disciplines and exchange of ideas is an inspirational part of work life for me.
I am confident in the use of maps and have created a series of maps in GIS based on aerial investigation and Lidar visualisations. I have undertaken ground survey using GPS, theodolite, and tape and offset methods.
For work, I am travelling throughout the country and am happy to continue to do so.
In talks and workshops I have taught ancient textile making and spinning. I am a keen walker and passionate for nature and conservation. But I also care about the small wonders of flora and fauna which needs protection and conservation. I have now decided to follow my passion for nature and actively work for the aim to manage and preserve this vital part of our world which is constantly under threat from development, climate change and impact of tourism.

In my role as archaeological fieldwork supervisor for Wessex Archaeology and Trent & Peak Archaeology, I have supervised teams up to 10 technicians or volunteers, working on commercial and research sites. I am responsible for survey, maintenance of records, health & safety and first aid. I am used to being diplomatic in discussions with clients, council staff, landowners and the general public.
As part of my work and Landscape Archaeology course, I am using standard and specialist software. Report writing was part of my duties and I have written pieces for the blog and journal articles. I have worked with a variety of databases and am confident in the use of QGIS and ArcGIS. My dissertation, which I am currently finalising, has been partnered by Historic England and the Peak District National Park. For this, I have used Lidar analysis, historic map regression and aerial photography interpretation – skills gained during my study and a work placement with Historic England.
I hold a full driving license, have 4x4 off-road training and am happy to travel for work.
