Summary

It has also been a dream of mine to work with animals in some way and I have also had the opportunity of watching local wildlife as well as going to be volunteering at the RSPCA Canterbury and District Branch’s animal rehoming centre where I have helped the daily cleaning and feeding. I have helped with the socialization of the cats at the centre and I have also been trusted to help with the physiotherapy of an injured cat.

I have gained knowledge of animal husbandry and biology while I studied at Canterbury College where I studied a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management which I enjoyed. After doing the Animal management course I furthered my knowledge my animal biology and conservation when I when onto do a HND in Applied animal science which I also enjoyed and where I helped out at Howletts.

I have also gained some experience of wildlife when I did my work experience at school at the Wildwood Trust’s park. When I was at Wildwood I assisted the keepers with their daily routines which included cleaning of enclosures and feeding. I helped with the feeding of two Tawny Owlets which I enjoyed as well as some Tawny Owl husbandry. This was my first taste of working with animals which I believe helped to improve my knowledge and love of wildlife. I have also gained some hands-on experience when I was doing the HND by doing some work experience at a local farm which helped my understanding of farm animals and welfare.

Outline

I believe I could bring my experience of animal experience, both hands on and theory as well as good time management, hard-working and I believe I am a team player as well working alone. I am a motivated, well-organized and friendly person who is hardworking and able to work without supervision using own initiative.
