Over 30 years of experience, working my way up to senior managerial level. I am passionate about historic land management, trees and woodland conservation. I wish to pass on my knowledge and experience to others and looking for a position which will combine my skill sets.

qualified from the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh Scotland, and worked for the Imperial College of London at Silwood Park, Berkshire, and as Superintendent of Estate for the Royal Horticultural Society at Wisley, which included the Jubilee Arboretum, and all arboricultural and turf management.
I have taught horticultural education at Hadlow, Merrist Wood, and Reaseheath Colleges, where taught and assessed horticulture, and arboriculture. Then I had an opportunity to move to Canada; where I worked for a private estate outside Montreal, then became principle of my own consulting firm; Arbormark. I specialized in private and municipal consulting work in tree and reforestation management. I continued my interest in teaching and taught classes in horticulture at Algonquin College in Ottawa and in arboriculture and agroforestry at University Guelph, Kemptville College.
In 2002; I became the Manager of Grounds and Greenhouses with the National Capital Commission; where I managed the Official Residences Division horticulture and landscape portfolio for the six Canadian Official residences. The residences included Governor General’s Rideau Hall and Prime Minister of Canada’s residence 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa. In this role I led a large professional staff, contract and event management; building development; glasshouses, historic landscapes, gardens, lakes; waterways, veteran trees, woodland, and a ceremonial tree collection in 80 acres at Rideau Hall
I returned to the UK in September 2018 becoming an Assessor in Horticulture at Wiltshire College. since I have become a professional member in the Arboriculture Association and Chartered Institute of Horticulture, and committee member of The Maple Society. I am looking for opportunities as a part-time lecturer/assessor, in land based education, and training.
