Great crested newt survey licence holder England & Wales
I am an experienced professional botanist working mostly in north-west England, north- and mid-Wales and the Midlands. I trained in botany at the University of Reading and hold a full pass of the Vascular Plants IdQ from the Natural History Museum (equivalent to FISC Level 5). I'm currently an Associate Tutor for the Field Studies Council and teach plant identification through the BSBI's Identiplant scheme. I also run botanical and bryological field meetings in my local area for Warrington Plant Group. I am assistant to the BSBI's Recorder for Flintshire and am currently on the Council of the BBS.
I carry out botanical surveys including extended Phase 1, National Vegetation Classification (NVC), hedgerow survey and surveys for individual target plant species. I have advised on botanical and ecological matters for a wide range of projects throughout the UK, including numerous upland wind farm sites.
I am a Chartered Environmentalist and full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). I also hold survey licences for great crested newt for England and Wales and enjoy surveying for bats, amphibians, reptiles and other animals.
