Having completed a BSc in Countryside Conservation I am now undertaking a part time Msc in Biological Recording and Ecological Recording with Manchester Metropolitan University. I am looking for work that will compliment this and add to my experience
With a thirst for learning, professional and personal development, along with a dedication to conservation ecology, I would make a good addition to any team. Having decided on a career change in my early 40's, I have a strong history in administration and customer service making me a strong and flexible candidate. Studying as a mature student whilst raising a family, means I have good time management skills and work well under pressure. I am a qualifying member of C.I.E.E.M., hold a ringing permit with the BTO and am a accredited agent on Montgomeryshire Barn Owl Group's Schedule One Licence. I have been working voluntarily alongside Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust since June 2017, carrying out habitat management, dormouse and general surveys and bird ringing. I am currently warden for one of their reserves.I also work with small scale land owners giving advice and carrying out practical tasks to improve their land for wildlife and conservation, from installing bird boxes to seeding flower meadows with green hay.
I voluntarily run a nest box project in my local town council owned woodland, where materials have been donated by local organisations, the boxes have been built by local children and monitored by trained local volunteers.
My master's degree will confirm and extend my knowledge and experience in practical, hands-on survey techniques and identification of birds, lepidoptera, odonata, and flora, along with research methods and handling data.
