Hello, my main occupation has been quantity surveyor in civil engineering, but over the years I have come chained to a desk, and that just isn't me! But you'll have to go to the profile to tell you more. Kind regards, Mark
Hello again,
I am 58, and wanting to stay in good health and active, and I live in Kent, though still northern at heart.
My work has been based in civil engineering including pipelines for gas, oil, and water, industrial, airports, roads, bridges, rail. So I have to say, I have been incredibly lucky in my life. I was trained as a quantity survey, but being hands on, I have been involved in everything from design, to on site management of work.
My problem now, is that I have become chained to a desk. Yes, it is a well paid job, and I do believe my broad experience has contributed to that in a world that has been compartmentalised.
However, I am looking for something new where I can use my experience, but in an active role, and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty, in fact the more the better.
This would be a whole new direction for me, so I am willing to learn. Likewise, I may be able to bring experience from the civil engineering experience, where certainly in the last decade there has been a vast improvement on working practices.
Long or short term, part time, and I would welcome any enquiries or advice.
Thank you for reading,
Mark Doherty
